of an isooctyl "mixture" (more than 90%).
x-ethyl-C6 are present but not in a large
quantities (less than 10%). The composition
of this mixture could be slightly different
according the oil feedstock used for the
synthesis of it and of the process used for the
"oxo" reaction..
In contrast, ethylhexyl (ethyl-C6) refers
usually to 2-ethylhexyl structure which is
perfectly defined chemically.

In the scope of organotin compounds for
which the toxicity is related to organic tin,
studies done either with the "isooctyl" or the
"ethylhexyl" could be used for evaluation of
branched C8 organotin compounds.
